Apple is eliminating the iTunes U section of iTunes. Sometime in September, they are moving iTunes U collections to Podcasts. It’s all a bit confusing, however. They say that iTunes U will no longer appear as a media kind in iTunes, but there are two different ways to access this content. For iTunes U collections, you use the Podcasts section of iTunes, or the Podcasts app on iOS or the Apple TV, but for iTunes U public courses, you use the iTunes U app on iOS.
While iTunes U was a great idea, I guess it never caught on. Eliminating a media kind in iTunes is a good idea, and I don’t think anyone has any problems with this educational content being considered to be podcasts.
