  1. Eh – somehow we’re sharing some vibes or something. Earlier today, before hearing about Bowie’s death, I was listening to his latest album because my son asked about it (apparently, he’s something for my sons tribe) and I was thinking – back to “Heroes”.

We’re getting old… Rip Mr Bowie.

    • I’d been listening to the latest album since its release on Friday, and I was actually thinking of writing a short piece about it this week.

“Heroes” is, to me, one of the greatest rock songs ever written…

  3. Sad day. I saw those pictures last month when he attended Lazarus premiere off Broadway and knew something wasn’t right.

A beautiful cover of the Ewen McGregor / Nicole Kidman duet from ‘Moulin Rouge!’

But seriously, RIP. Celebrate the life. One of my absolute favorite musical artists. (And that’s entirely separate from his amazing persona. Not to mention his being an all-around good guy.)

It’s funny. Let’s Dance came out in my formative years, and so I initially hated Bowie. But that quickly turned around as I discovered the back catalog.

    – Life on Mars
    – Five Years
    – TVC 15
    – Sound and Vision
    – Panic in Detroit

Been listening to Lodger a bunch lately, and just starting to get into the new album. Throughout the years, enjoyed so very many of his different albums at different times.

(And if you’ve never heard it, I highly recommend Bowie at the Beeb for the live studio session. A far better listen than any of his live concert albums, IMHO.)

Good day to re-watch The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Bowie is responsible for 2/3rds of that film’s wonderfulness.

    • For me, the early stuff was a sort of radio-play background, but when “Heroes” came out, I was hooked. I listened to that on my Sony Pressman (the predecessor to the Walkman) until I wore out a cassette.
