How to Uninstall Flash Player

Adobe Flash Player has had a long life as a tool for displaying multimedia content in web browsers, but as of December 31, 2020, this software reached the end of its life. From this date on, Adobe will not issue any updates for the software, and will prompt users to uninstall Flash Player as soon as possible.

  1. Thanks for the information on the uninstall process, and on the folders that the process doesn’t uninstall. I don’t understand the back slashes between ‘Flash’ and ‘Player’ in the paths shown for those folders. Perhaps the back slash is a code to render the space character. In any case, I see no back slash on my computer when I locate these folders. I see ‘Flash Player’.

    /Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash\ Player
    /Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash\ Player

    • That was a mistake I copied from the Adobe website. If you were to enter those paths in terminal, to delete them that way, you would have to enter the backslashes to escape the spaces. (If you don’t know what it means, that doesn’t matter. I’ll fix it later; I’m not at my computer.)
