One day next week, if all goes according to plan, Tom Negrino will swallow a dose of anti-nausea drugs. Shortly afterward, he will raise a glass filled with four ounces of liquid and drink. Ninety capsules of a barbiturate will be dissolved in that glass. Negrino will follow it up with a glass of good wine, say goodbye to his wife and fall asleep. Within an hour, he will be dead.
I have tears in my eyes as I type this. Tom Negrino is a well-respected author who has been working in the Mac community for for 30 years. He wrote for Macworld, and, back in 2001, when I was a fledgling tech author, gave me my first chance at co-writing a book. I’m honored to have my name on the cover of Microsoft® Office v. X for Mac Inside Out after his. Here’s his author page on Amazon; it’s astounding how many books he’s written.
Tom has had a tough life, as the article explains, and he’s going out the way he wants to. Farewell, Tom.

Thanks for sharing. Moving story. I supported the legislation here in California that is allowing Tom to go out on his own terms.
