Ridiculous Amazon Packaging, #3278

I need a long ruler. I ordered one from Amazon. It cost £3.60. Here’s how they packaged it.

And if that’s not bad enough, they shipped it via UPS. I wonder how much it cost them to ship this?

  1. That’s one of the best yet. And the silly thing is, it looks like the ruler could still have broken if you’d been unlucky.

  3. I can’t say that bothers me too much. A box that’s a bit too big isn’t that wasteful, just a bit more cardboard used and that’s recyclable, as is the packaging looks like. As for shipping costs, well they will have a VERY good deal with UPS, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to ship something like that for so little. Why would UPS be worse than e.g. the Royal Mail?

I think far worse is tech goods in ‘blister’ packs that are largely unrecylcable plastic and a bast**d to get into without slicing bits off your fingers. At least Amazon packages are easy to open and recyclable.

  5. Even better, or worse, is soon more than one occasion I’ve ordered two or more of the same item and they are shipped from the same warehouse in separate packages by different carriers.
