I’d like to thank Rogue Amoeba Software for sponsoring Kirkville this month. Rogue Amoeba has just released a major update to is great audio recording software Audio Hijack.
I’m a long-time user of Audio Hijack, and I use it to record podcasts, radio streams, music from DVDs and more. I’ve written an overview of the update here, and you can check the app out on the Rogue Amoeba website.
Will this software break the songs into individual MP3 files when streaming from Pandora or any of the other “radio” services ???? Or does it just record all the songs in sequence in one big audio file — forcing you to go in and break apart and rename manually?
My favorite, Wiretap from BareBones software, makers of BBEdit, no longer works on the later systems and BareBones didn’t upgrade it.
There was also once a great program called “RadioLover” that recorded off the Mac audio and split the audio based on “blank” dead air.
????
Thanks … we enjoy your column

No, it doesn’t. WireTap was Ambrosia Software.
Rogue Amoeba’s Fission, which has long been my audio editing tool of choice, has a Smart Split feature that can detect silence and split tracks. It’s not perfect, because if tracks have silence in them, they might get split. But it works well in most cases.
