Back in July, when the new Mozart 225 box set was announced, I mentioned it here. Released today to celebrate his 225th anniversary, this is a 22-pound, 200-disc set of all his works. Priced at around $400 or £300, it’s a big ask, but it is everything he ever wrote. (Amazon.com, Amazon UK)
NPR has an interview with Cliff Eisen, who wrote the biography that’s included with the set. Naturally, he’s trying to sell this compendium of music, but his discussion of the strong points of this set is worth reading.
Do you need this set? Probably not. Would it be interesting to have? If you like Mozart, it most certainly would.
