Some say the Clash’s London Calling is the best rock album of all time.

  1. First, qualify what is referred to as “rock” music. The Clash, IMO, doesn’t even come close to the category.

  2. Personally, I’m more of a fan of Sandinista.
The Clash were a little self-indulgent by making it a 3-LP set.
If you took the best songs and made a double album out of them, I reckon it ‘smokes’ London Calling though it is a pretty strong album.

The band started experimenting on a mini album called Black Market Clash – released before the two albums mentioned. In my opinion they became much more interesting musically than when they were playing straight punk music. Easily the most creative out of all the punk bands.
