I’m writing a novel. Much of the action is set around a lake near a small town in New England. I don’t live in New England, but in Olde England.  I have visited New England — I spent the first 25 years of my life in the United States — and I lived in the French Alps for a dozen years, so I’m pretty familiar with what lakes in mountainous terrain look like. 
There are some features around the lake that are important for my novel. There are a number of high-end cabins, which are rented by tourists, and there is a curious rock formation on the edge of the lake that is important in the story. In order to visualize these elements, I did some research online, looking for photos that approached what I saw in my mind’s eye, but I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. So I turned to AI.
