In my writings about iTunes, I often mention the iTunes LCD. This is an official Apple term for an element in iTunes’ interface, yet they don’t seem to use it much. But there is no other word to describe this.
If you look at the top of the iTunes window, you’ll see this in the center of the app:
The top section of the above screenshot is the iTunes LCD:
This is the part of iTunes that gives you information about what is playing, about a CD you’re ripping, the progress of a sync to an iOS device, and more. The iTunes LCD – and the toolbar – is always visible.
